Marina Klein
Principal Investigator
Dr. Marina Klein graduated from McGill Medical School (1991) and received her training in Internal Medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She completed a research fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota in 1998 and then returned to McGill University to join the Division of Infectious Diseases/Immunodeficiency Service at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Her clinical interests focus on the treatment of patients with HIV and chronic hepatitis. She received a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill (2003) and was an Associate of the Canadian HIV Trials Network. She focuses her research on clinical and epidemiologic aspects of HIV and Hepatitis C Co-infection and leads a CIHR funded prospective Cohort study of co-infected patients to study the interaction of these chronic viral infections. She is principal investigator in clinical trials of HIV-HCV Co-infection and has worked towards gaining access to liver transplantation for co-infected persons in Canada.
Jennifer Kocilowicz
Research Coordinator
Jennifer Kocilowicz completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a Specialization in Cell and Molecular Biology from Concordia University. She began her health field career at the Montreal Children’s Hospital where she spent four years working as a coordinator in the Emergency Department, followed by another four years in Trauma as an administrative technician and Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) liaison officer. As a sideline, Jennifer worked with the paediatric population as a research assistant focusing on rehabilitation and the return to physical activities following a mild traumatic brain injury. Health and wellness have always been important to her, with dance in particular being an extracurricular passion which she continues to enjoy through running her dance school.

Costas Pexos
Database Manager
Costas Pexos is the Database Manager for the Chronic Viral Illness Service clinic at the MUHC. His background is in Management Information Systems and Finance from Concordia University. He also completed a certificate program in Project Management from McGill University. He previously worked in a Project Management role in the video games industry so needless to say it’s one of the ways he likes to spend some of his downtime!

Leo Wong
Data Manager
Recently graduated from McGill University in 2015, Leo Wong pursued and completed a Bachelor of Science degree, with a joint Major in Biology and Computer Science. He is currently enrolled in the Diploma in Internet Business Technology program at McGill University. On the team, he is responsible for data management along with implementation and maintenance of databases. Leo is a huge fan of basketball, he loves to play the sport as much as he enjoys watching it. His favorite team in the NBA is the New York Knicks.

Roy Nitulescu
Roy Nitulescu is a biostatistician with the CCC research team. He holds degrees in mathematics and statistics (B.Sc.) and in economics (M.A.), and he has been working in the field of applied empirical research for over 5 years. Having been exposed to a broad range of data sources (e.g., survey data, administrative claims databases, physician charts) and software packages (e.g., Stata, R, SAS), his expertise as a data analyst and applied statistician is well-rounded. In his free time, he enjoys reading about science and technology and tinkering with open source software.
Rhyan Pineda
Lab Technician
Rhyan Pineda is the lab technician for the CCC research team, he is responsible for processing and managing biological samples and writing Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory techniques. He completed his studies in Laboratory Technology and Analytical Chemistry at Dawson College in 2007. In his free time, Rhyan enjoys participating in many activities including badminton, tennis, volleyball and snowboarding.
